Navas has a new team, signs Newell without a fee

Keylor Navas, the veteran Costa Rican goalkeeper, has officially signed a contract to guard the goal for Newell’s Old Boys, a team in the Argentine top league.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper has signed a contract with Newell’s until 2026. Previously, he has played for big teams such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

His contract with PSG expired last summer but has been a free agent since then. He recently signed to join Newell’s.

Navas, a product of the Deportivo Saprissa youth system in his homeland, before moving to play in Europe for Albacete in Spain in 2010, before being loaned out to Levante the following year and signing permanently in 2012, then moving to Madrid to become famous.

Navas’ arrival increases the prestige of the Argentine championship, which in this transfer market also added Spaniard Ander Herrera, signed by Boca Juniors, while a few months ago Iker Muniain had joined San Lorenzo.

At international level, Navas has played 114 times for Costa Rica, playing in three World Cups: Brazil 2014, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
