Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign midfielder Dario Essouko in the summer of 2025 for €25m (£21m), despite the club’s current midfield options glut.

A Bola reports that in the past 24 hours, the Blues have been following a strategy of attracting promising players from around the world, such as Giovani Quenda, a right wing-back from Sporting Lisbon, who is set to join Stamford Bridge in 2026, with a price tag of around £40 million.

The latest target is 20-year-old Sporting midfielder Essugo, who is currently สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน on loan at La Liga side Las Palmas.

The Portuguese star’s performance in the Spanish top league has seen him play 17 matches and score 1 goal. He is comfortable wearing the number 6 shirt, but he can also run up and down the field like number 8, making him a suitable candidate for the position with Moises Caicedo.

The contract with ‘Leones’ runs until 2027, so discussing the transfer fee is not a problem. 25 million euros, Chelsea can easily pay. The player’s request is to guarantee playing time.

Head coach Enzo Maresca welcomed the move, selling a project to develop a top midfielder like former Blues star Claude Makelele.

Stamford Bridge have seen a number of promising midfielders go out of favour, including Cesare Casadei, who has moved to Torino.

Or like Renato Weyga who moved to Juventus on loan , Cairney Chukwuemeka who fled to Dortmund until the end of the season, leaving Kiernan Dewsbury and Hall on the bench.
