Arteta reveals Tierney ready to play for Arsenal in a year and a half.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirm left-back Kieran Tierney is fit to play at Sporting Lisbon.

Tierney suffer the injury while playing for Scotland in a 1-1 draw with Switzerland at Euro 2024 last summer and was out for a while until he was fit to return to action.

“We’ve got Kieran Tierney back from a long-term injury,” Arteta said ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Sporting Lisbon.

“It’s great news he’s back. He’s been training with us and is ready to play.”

Tierney’s last appearance for Arsenal came on the final day of the 2022/23 season, when he came on as a substitute in a 5-0 win over Wolves, before being loan out to Real Sociedad for the rest of last season, meaning he has not played for the Gunners for a year and a half.

With Tierney fit to return as an option. Arteta is now without just Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu due to injury.

Tierney was out of favour with ยูฟ่าเบท the Gunners last season. He spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Real Sociedad. Where he was in and out of the team due to injuries.

The Scotland international was expect to leave the club last summer. But he picked up a serious hamstring injury at the 2024 European Championship, which blocked his potential exit.
