Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has revealed that he must stay focused on the game. Until he is named to score two goals in the 4-1 thrashing of Manchester United, even though he barely touched the ball in the first 30 minutes.
Mahrez has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season. And has been involved in the team’s goals to pass 100 goals (101) (60 goals, 41 assists).
“I think I touched the ball four times in the first 30 minutes. But in my head I have to concentrate on the game,” Mahrez said.
“In the first half we did well and they [Man Utd] tried counter-attacking. In the second half we had more patience. and more control over the game and make a difference”
“The first shot you just try to hit the target. As for the second shot, I tried to shoot from a high angle. and it hits his face and goes through the door.”
Mahrez completed the victory with a goal that was initially flagged as offside. But VAR found the Alex Telles had played the Algerian onside before he latched on to an Ilkay Gundogan pass and blasted in off the shoulder of De Gea.
The scoreline was a fair reflection of City’s dominance and United will face the music. After losing heart following City’s third goal.
